Here are a few of my favourite Halo videos based on the video game of the same name. I've added a Gears of War trailer for good measure. I've played Gears of War on a HD TV and the graphics are awesome and the characters are really good too.

In Star Wars, Yoda says to Luke 'the force is with you'. The movie was epic and overshadowed the actors. These days, it's Halo that's captured our imagination. The hero is faceless; a metaphor for the gamer inside. The Halo is in fact a cut down version of a Dyson Sphere which is a science fiction concept. As a teenager, I read Ringworld by Larry Niven. It's a slice of a dyson sphere and if looked at side on could resemble a Halo. I read a few Niven and Pournelle books and all are excellent. It's great to see some of the old ideas in a new context. In my audio novel Engines Under Ursus there is also a Ringworld but it's still under construction.

At home, I finally decided to buy and XBox 360. Gears of War looked too good to miss and Halo 3 looks very interesting. Microsoft are on a roll at the moment imo. The Wii has stolen some of the thunder but for now it's XBox 360 time. I also just purchased a HDD compatible monitor. I want to see what the cutting edge of gaming is like as the XBox 360 supports it and so does Gear of Wars.

The opening sequence to this video is as good as any SciFi movie I've seen. I find it interesting that video games in many ways are the cutting edge of SciFi these days.

This is a nice video which serves almost as a chronology to the Halo conflict.

I like the way this Halo video mixes in Star Wars audio and the editing is really great.
